Salt and pepper tofu again!

Made it again for dinner tonight with long grain rice,wild rice,giant cous cous,humous and red pepper. Love it,can’t get enough! X

Salt and pepper tofu & peri peri tofu.

I followed this recipe for the salt and pepper tofu,and for the peri peri tofu,i used a store bought peri peri rub in seasoning. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the salt and pepper tofu was considering the ingredients were just cornflour (cornstarch),salt and pepper! Really,really delicious! Even if you’re not a huge tofu fan,try it this way,it’s beautiful! x

Ingredients

1 block extra-firm tofu
¼ cup vegetable or canola oil
¼ cup corn starch
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper (or to taste)
Additional salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Press tofu to remove excess moisture. To do so, line a plate with several paper towels. Place tofu on paper towels and top with two or three more paper towels. Place three or four more plates on top of the tofu, making sure they’re well-balanced. Drain for 20 – 30 minutes, checking occasionally to make sure plates are still balanced (toppling plates = bummer!)
Remove tofu from paper towels. Place on cutting board and cut tofu into squares or rectangles, as desired.
Add the vegetable or canola oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the corn starch, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper to a large plate or shallow baking dish. Mix.
Working in batches, dredge the tofu in the corn starch mixture, turning to coat evenly.
Carefully add tofu to hot oil in skillet. Cook over medium-high for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally to brown all sides.
Remove tofu from pan and place on several paper towels, blotting to remove excess oil.
Serve as desired.

Vegan dry shampoo (UK).

Superdrug’s own brand dry shampoo for brown hair (they also do original and one for blonde hair too). I like the brunette one as it doesn’t leave a white residue thats easier to see in dark hair! I also got this new salt spray today. Gives you a “bed head” look. Really light and doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy or anything. Smells gorgeous too! x

Vegan deodorant/anti perspirant (UK)

Again,back to trusty old Superdrug to keep you smelling fresh! x

Vegan lip care and colour (UK).

I hate dry lips! Always have to have some sort of balm or chap stick on them at all times! In this photo,there is :

* Superdrug own brand petroleum jelly tins (same as Vaseline).
* Superdrug pearl shine lip tint/chap stick.
* Hurraw lip balm/chap stick (bought online).
* Lush lip colour (smells so good,too!).

All marked vegan,all not tested on animals x

Vegan perfume (UK).

Marks and Spencers perfume,True Red…i love it! M&S own brand products are BUAV approved but you have to check ingredients yourself or Tweet/FB comment them if you’re unsure and they’ll tell you if a product has vegan friendly ingredients or not. New York perfume by M&S is another one of my favorites.

Superdrug own brand products are all BUAV approved and where applicable,are marked vegan.
They have a huge selection of every day toiletries and cosmetics. These are my favorite body sprays by Superdrug.

Vegan toner and face wipes (UK).

I use Superdrugs own brand toner for sensitive skin,it’s fragrance free and really gentle. As for face wipes,i go between Tesco cucumber face wipes or Superdrugs camomile face wipes (whichever store i’m near to at the time of needing more wipes!). Tesco don’t mark their products vegan but i have checked with them and the face wipes contain no animal ingredients. Tesco also do not test own brand beauty and cleaning products or individual ingredients on animals (FCOD 2007) x

Vegan facial cleanser (UK).

Probably the best cleanser ever made! Gorgeous lavender scent too. Use in shower for wonderful feeling and looking skin! Angels On Bare Skin,by Lush x
